Cinco Anos in Cozumel

Speaking of time flying, it was hard to believe that we celebrated five years as Mr. and Mrs. Johnson on June 12. Though we don't need much of an excuse to celebrate by jet setting on a tropical beach vacay, we decided that it was mandatory that we do just that, and we took off on a trip to Cozumel the first weekend in June. Down time was just what the doctor ordered after a long spring full of double duty as mommy, full-time employee and prospective teacher, and we had an absolute blast. Between lounging on the beach and by the pool, eating and drinking way too many yummy foods and drinks (one of the best perks of an all-inclusive resort, clearly), shopping, snorkeling and off shore fishing, we had the best four days just the two of us. After the last two years of major life changes, we definitely benefitted from a little time to just focus on each other and relax. Despite our best efforts, parenthood has gotten the best of us though, and we weren't able to sleep past 6:30 any of the mornings we were away... that's okay though, bc we had first pick of the mimosas at breakfast! Hayes spent the night with MiMi and Pappaw for the first time while we were away, and had so much fun at their house seeing cows, swinging and playing outside. He also got to spend a couple of days with GG and Pops when they came into town for the last two days of our trip. What a lucky guy to spend such good time with both sets of grandparents! He was in the best of hands and we are so thankful that our parents were willing to entertain our little man so we could have some time to focus on each other.

Here are a few of our favorite pics from our fabulous anniversary getaway in paradise!

BeeBee and the Beach

Wow-- talk about playing blog catch up! The last two months have been an absolute whirlwind and I fully commit to my status as a slacker blogger. If I have to own it, at least that name has a nice ring to it; gotta love a little rhyme after all! Now, if we rewind a little to the end of the month of May, we can reminisce about that time that Aunt BeeBee came down to visit and we kicked off her beach season. As always, we had a blast at the Island and just hanging out with one of our favorite peeps. She was getting ready to start her internship with BP, and we were excited to take up some of her down time before she entered the rat race of the working world for the summer. Here are some pics from our weekend with Sister...

In addition to our beach fun, we had to squeeze in a trip to the Zoo and a little pool time to cap off the holiday weekend. Never a dull moment up in here, y'all! Hayes Man loved every moment of becoming one with nature-- from splashing in the water to hugging on some goats in the petting zoo. I'd say this weekend was right up his little alley!

Long Time, No Blog

Cue the famously overplayed first lyric of Adele: "Hello, it's me..." as the Johnson's finally make a return to blog world! My reasoning is one part school holiday and mostly the fact that my competitive spirit won't let me be upstaged by my sister's fabulous new blog (which is both comical, touching and entertaining, making me ever so proud). Also, six months without a post is a bit ridiculous.

In an effort to play catch up, these next few posts will mostly serve as picture dumps of all of our summer and fall adventures. Bear with me folks, things are about to get pretty photo heavy. This shouldn't be a problem if you're like me and have an affinity for pictures of a certain curly headed toddler!

The month of July brought a visit from BeeBee and Caitlin, the Harlingen 4th of July parade, a week in San Antonio followed by time in Comanche and the Johnston reunion, and countless beach trips.

The fantastic participants of the Harlingen 4th of July parade. Don't be jealous. :)

Our poor sweet boy had a bout with strep throat that went undiagnosed until after the 4th of July weekend. BeeBee luckily escaped the visit unscathed!

The three best friends that anyone could have!

To celebrate Grandpa Johnson's birthday, we took dinner out to the farm field, a Johnson family summer tradition.

These ended up a little out of order, but hey, I'm out of practice and there are way too many pictures for me to worry too much about it! More to come (hopefully before the next half a year passes)!
